Government-funded

Midwives are 100% government-funded. There is no cost to you, as long as you live in Ontario or make your home in Ontario. Midwives are paid by the Ministry of Health and Long term Care to give care for people throughout pregnancy, during the birth, and for six weeks after the baby is born. You need to decide to have a midwife or doctor/obstetrician for your care unless there are concerns or complications.

Who We Are

Midwives are registered health care providers. We provide complete clinical care. That includes information, advice and support to help you, our client, make the best choices for your own care. We work to develop relationships of trust with our clients and their families because we know this improves safety and satisfaction with the experience of pregnancy, birth and early parenting.

What We Do

We work in small teams of 2 or 3 midwives, and there is always a midwife on-call to provide care when you need it, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Most of your pregnancy care will happen at appointments in our clinic/office. Your clinic visits will include clinical care, information sharing, advice and support to help you make the best and informed choices.

Our relationships with our clients are what we love about our work.

Midwife Team - Our relationships with our clients is what we love about our work.

Our midwives work together to care for you.

Midwives see pregnancy and birth as a healthy time in your life, and expect your birth to go normally. Midwives are highly trained to notice when a pregnancy, labour or birth is no longer normal. We will monitor both you and your baby closely during your care and birth. Midwives often work with nurses and doctors (Obstetricians), when needed, to give you and your baby the safest care possible. If you are pregnant and interested in having a midwife, please fill out our “Ask for a Midwife” form as soon in your pregnancy as possible. We have limited spots available!

I have been a part of Family Midwifery Care for both of my babies. My midwives walked me through pregnancy and labour with wisdom, compassion and confidence. They empowered me to be the best mom that I could be by giving me information and support as I needed to allow me to make the choices that were best for me. They will always hold a special place in my heart. …it’s hard to sum up some a powerful experiences with just a few words.
